“A hill or a tree cannot make a good painting just because it is a hill or a tree. It is the lines and colours put together so that they say something which makes a good picture”

Georgia O’Keeffe

The core inspiration for my paintings is the celebration of the beauty of my birth Country, New Zealand, coupled with the exciting architectural diversity of London, my adopted City. Sharing my time between both locations allows me to explore the tensions between the two, forming a melodic balance and harmony in my work.

My paintings do not aim to be in any way representational but rather to convey my personal vision in an abstract form. By exploring the spiritual and emotional relationship I have to both places, I strive for a poetic, musical resonance that absorbs the viewer on a multi-sensory level.

I work in a diverse range of materials and mediums including graphite, printmaking, oil paint and pastel. My paintings present a rhyming of the colours and tones of nature with the rhythmic architectural forms of the city.
